Well this is one of my characters that I've had for a while now. I dunno why but I felt an urge to draw her finally.

Well now time for a little info on her. She is pretty much as American as you can get, though you couldn't tell from her look. She really likes the Japanese culture thus the sword and beanie that has the rising sun symbol on the side of it. Her sword is kept in a sheath that only opens with her palm prints; it also will clean it with a special acid and laser to keep it extremely sharp.

When I was first designing her sword I was actually thinking of an iPod though I can't think of an iPod that glows bluish. Also the make up on her face isn't messed up she actually does just one eye and only her bottom lip.

I had some reference for her pose but other than that she is completely mine. Oh wait... is that... OMG that's a background *falls over has heart attack*

I hope you all like it. Maybe next time I'll color someone else that isn't a blond.

Well... There's quite a bit I'd like to say about this picture, both good and bad, but before I rant, let's cut to the chase.

I like it! :-)

So, have said that... Probably the thing that stands out the most for me that I really like is the detail on her clothing. Yeah, I know, me praising the clothing when we all know the more skin the better... Anyways, I think you did a really good job with the little red armor patches or whatever you want to call them and I especially like the padding around the sides. REALLY well done!

I also have to compliment the sword and sheath. They are simple, but the small details on the handle and sheath are really cool and it all fits really well.

The shading is also pretty darn spiffy and really helps give it an extra something or other I don't know what... Yeah... I like it though.

Umm... Don't really know what to say about the hat other than when I look at it I can't help by think of Where's Waldo for some reason. I could do without it, but it doesn't bother me enough to not like the picture.

I like the makeup decision. I probably would've been confused if you hadn't of explained it, but I think it helps make her more unique and stand out. Especially when you view it full screen her face has that...
"Come here sexy..."
kind of look. *THUMBS UP!*

Okay, what else?? Oh!

The foot on the left looks pretty good but the one further back on the right looks kind of off. Not sure if it is the angle, or maybe it doesn't seem long enough. Not quite sure, but something about it seems off.

Uh, not much to say about the hand behind her butt, but the other hand holding the sword... Okay, here is where I have my first serious problem with the picture.

After looking at it for a while I could make out all four knuckles of her hand and I realized what you were going for. But if you just look at the fingers it looks like she has a mutant index finger and then only 2 other fingers making her a 4 fingered freak!! AHH, FREAK!!

:-P

Like I said, after looking at it more and seeing the distinction on the knuckles I can see how one of the fingers is sort of... 'hidden' But still, had to say something as I thought she was a mutant. :-)

And finally!! Told you I had a lot to say! ;-)
The Background...

Okay, yes, props for having a background! This is a good thing, you are branching out, trying new things, all very good!

.....
...
..
.

But I have to say the background really doesn't do much for this picture. It sort of distracts from it because the first time you look at it you just want to say...

PHOTOSHOPPED, PIXELS, ETC...

Just has that copy and paste feel to it like you copied this really well done picture and pasted it over a splotched up background.

I think it might have worked slightly better had you added some shadows between her and the background. Maybe sort of tried blending it all together a little better.

Of course, the ultimate solution here would've been to skip the background and/or hand draw a background that might fit better.

Yeah, I'm one to talk, me and my awesome PENGINA drawing abilities. But yeah...

Basically I really liked this picture and I think you did a very good job on it. So... I wanted to be as honest as possible and give you every last little thought I had in my head about it.

WHEW!

Well, hope that helps and/or you find it encouraging, whatever... If not, I'll be happy to have been the person to break you!

BWUAHAHA!!

At any rate... I did really like it and great job!

+FAVORITE!

You did this within a few days? Cool tools.

Pose is really good and I like her design (asymmetry ftw). I didn't quite see her as red, but my colors are weird anyway. I really like the sword and sheath/scabbard/sword condom (what the hell's the right name anyway?). The sketchy shading is a nice touch too.

Do her boobs seem especially pointy? I also agree about the hand though, seems the fingers could be more slender or something, and I'd add the line for the other finger. Looks good though, much better than blob fist.

And hey, the background fits I suppose, though a shadow would be nice.

Moar plz kthx.
WHERE'S MY DEVIANT ART AVATAR TO REPLACE LIGHTNING GOTENKS OVER THERE???

*imagine me pointing to the left.*

Yeah, that's right... You better be making me my avatar! Or else I'll hire a certain hitman from Seattle to come take care of you.

;-) If you know what I mean. ;-)
